Artichokes are considered to be a high fodmap food but it really depends on each person's individual sensitivity to it, and to the other foods that are in the same category.
Fodmap for those who don't know are a list of foods that tend to cause stomach upset in some people. Specifically they are the carbohydrate and sugar components of these foods that come from dairy, fruit, vegetables and sweeteners. The small intestine doesn't absorb these sugars well and so they stay in the G.I. tract instead of going into the body. These sugars attract a lot of water and the result is diarrhea or other IBS symptoms.
Everyone has their own foods and situations that trigger their stomach distress so it's hard to say whether one specific food will result in any difficulty. For many people it's just one or two foods that affect them and for others it's a whole range.
The biggest culprits are generally the sweeteners and sorbitols but when it comes to vegetables it's really hit or miss. Some people can eat almost all the high fodmap veggies with no trouble, but then really feel it if they ate onions?
So when it comes to artichokes we can say that they are on the high fodmap list of foods, and then let each person decide for themselves what they want to do. Of course always talk to your doctor before taking any advice online or in person.
Good luck.
